  2. Values can change in society. A few examples: • Business: going “green” • Communication: phones • Education: college presidents • Television: “Leave it to Beaver” • Culture: slavery • And just this week!

  3. Jesus calls us to a new set of values—Kingdom values. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near!” --Matt. 4:17

  4. You can chose your values. • God gives you free will and doesn’t force your choice. • God allows you to chose whether you will follow Him or not.

  5. Value choices made clear in the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7) • Earthly or heavenly treasure ? • Life full of darkness or full of light ? • Serving wealth and self or serving God? • The broad road that leads to away from God or the narrow road that leads to Him?

  6. Reflection questions • Have your values changed because you know Jesus? • If so, how? • Can others see and do they know of how Jesus has changed you?

  7. Let’s turn our attention to the vision and values of a church…
