  2. The Invasion • Started roughly in 1963 • Started with one girls letter wanting to here the beetles on the radio. • The letter writer was Marsha Albert. • After they were heard on radio in America for the first time, Beatles albums sold like crazy in stores all around.

  3. British Invasion Bands • There is literately a 100 plus list of bands for the British Invasion. • The top 10 are • The Beatles • The Rolling Stones • The Kinks • The who • The Yard Birds • The animals • The Dave Clark 5 • The Hollies • Dusty Springfield

  4. Teens • The British Invasion was mainly because of teens. • The teens in America liked the strong rebellious sound of the British music. • The British invasion consisted of mainly rock and roll, but there where other types of music involved. • Blues • Jazz • Pop

Parents Point of View • Although The invasion involved teens, some adults liked the new sound of the British. • Some parents hated the music because they felt it was causing there kids to become “uncontrolled hoodlums” • Some parents didn’t really care much, as long as their kids weren't getting into trouble.

The Beatles • The Beatles had many songs. • All the lonely People • (also known as Eleanor Rigby) • Helter Skelter • (made famous by Charles Manson) • (Used to describe a race war between the African American And the Whites) • Come together • (very unusual lyrics) • Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds • (song about LSD) • Inspired By John Lennon's son • Sgt Pepper • ECT.

Beatles Part II • Original Members • John Lennon (Probably the most popular of the four) • Paul McCartney • Ringo Star • George Harrison • Started In Liverpool U.K • Went from 1960-1970 • Band Broke up in 1970 • Lennon died from getting shot in the chest 5 times; He was shot in the left lung, heart, and shoulder. • Killer is Mark Damon Chapman. • Killed him at his door step in New York City. (December 10, 1980)

The Rolling Stones • Original members • Mick Jagger (July 26, 1943 – Present) • Keith Richards (December 18, 1943 – Present) • Ronnie Wood ( June 1, 1947 – Present) • Charlie Watts ( June 2, 1941- present) • The rolling stones were very popular in London England, And the moved to America in 1964 during the British invasion.

  10. The Kinks • Original Members • Pete Quaife (December 31, 1943 – June 20, 2010 • Dave Davies (February 3, 1947 – Present) • Ray Davies (June 21 1944 – Present) • Mick Avory. (February 15, 1944 – present) • The Kinks were an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, by brothers Ray and Dave Davies in 1964.

The Kinks Part II • Kinks Songs • Act Nice And Gentle… • Acute Schizophrenia Paranoia Blues… • Add it up… • After the Fall… • Afternoon Tea… • The kinks had many people to thank for their inspiration, but the main people where the Beatles. Both being from England, the Beatles mad the Kinks say “if they can do it, what about us”

More on the invasion • The British invasion is more than British music coming to America, it is what inspired most rock and roll artists now. • Without the invasion, we may not have the metal, alternative and punk music that so many people liked. • The British invasion ran for roughly two years. • IT brought over 100 successful bands to America. • 1964-1966 (BRITISH INVASION)

  13. Conclusion • Most younger people of this generation think that the British invasion had some pretty stupid bands…. • All we have to say to them that if those bands didn’t come to America, your music may have never been created…
