About This PowerPoint Presentation • This presentation is designed to assist Trustees in presenting it in their NAs and Chapters in order to encourage involvement. • For more information, especially if you want to know why and how these priorities came out, please refer to the following documents on the Resource (http://resources.cisv.org). • Doc36-AIM09 Strategic Plan Overview 2010-2012 Which provides a three-year overview of the Strategic Plan, expected progress within each area, main roles of each level of the organization, links to the current Strategic Plan as well as types of evidence anticipated to enable monitoring and evaluation. • Doc37-AIM09 Annual Strategic Workplan 2010 Accompanying the overview, this document sets out a detailed workplan for all levels of the organization for the first year of the Plan. • It is hoped that NAs will find this resource helpful.

The plan has three Priority Areas • Education, Training and Evaluation • Chapters • Raising Profile • Each Area has 1 overall direction and specific goals • Each goal has strategies to reach the goal • Each goal has roles for every level of the organization • Each goal has identified types of evidence to enable monitoring and evaluation of progress. These will be the basis for establishing indicators for review

  5. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EVALUATION • By the end of 2012, to improve the quality of education and training to encourage active global citizenship

  7. Education, Training and Evaluation Goal A: Educational Materials To have high quality educational materials accessible to everyone at all levels of the organization.

Education, Training and Evaluation Goal A: Educational Materials Strategies Conduct an internal action research project to: • evaluate the implementation and impact of our educational materials at all levels of the organization. • identify effective strategies for distribution and use of materials for all levels of the organization. • The research will focus on the following educational materials: The Passport, Big Ed, Activity Template, Education library • There will be an active process of feedback from all levels of the organization. • The findings and recommendations will be presented to the International Board in time to inform the strategic plan which is due to start in 2013. (plus annual updates through the departmental reporting structure.)

  11. 2010 Workplan for NAs and Chapters Education, Training and Evaluation Goal A: Educational Materials • AIM 2009-Dec 2009 - Plan to send people to RTFs including Education sessions • Jan 2010-AIM 2010 - Participate in RTFs and sessions on Education - Raise awareness of research and respond as requested. Participate in research by providing feedback on the implementation strategy and use of educational materials. Share best practice materials with the education department. - Continue to raise awareness of and use materials and resources • AIM 2010-Dec 2010 - Continue to raise awareness as mentioned above - Plan to send people to RTFs including Education sessions

Education, Training and Evaluation Goal B: Train The Trainers Conduct an internal action research project to: • Evaluate the implementation and impact of TTT workshops and network at all levels of the organization. • Include budget considerations • Identify effective roll out processes • Review materials • The findings and recommendations will be presented to the International Board in time to inform the strategic plan which is due to start in 2013.   16. 2010 Workplan for NAs and Chapters Education, Training and Evaluation Goal B: Train the Trainers • AIM 2009-Dec 2009 - Encourage Certified Trainers to apply skills and knowledge through national/local trainings - Plan to send trainers to TTTs • Jan 2010-AIM 2010 - Participate in TTTs - Continue to encourage Certified Trainers as mentioned above - Raise awareness of research and respond to research requests as needed • AIM 2010-Dec 2010 - Continue to encourage Certified Trainers as mentioned above - Continue to raise awareness as mentioned above - Plan to send trainers to TTTs

  17. Education, Training and Evaluation Goal C: Leadership Training • To have a common approach for leadership training (programme and organizational) at all levels of the organization.

Education, Training and Evaluation Goal C: Leadership Training • Review, develop and implement training for all leadership roles in CISV (programme and organizational roles) • Collect and review existing training materials for all leadership roles • Collect and review information from NAs on their training strategies • Determine what are the training needs of/for each leadership role, what elements and topics are common and specific • Develop format for training content, including how training should be structured • Develop training materials as needed • Determine how to make training accessible and assess use of existing structures • Determine how to track impact of training and set up structures Strategies

  19. Education, Training and Evaluation Goal C: Leadership Training • Pilot training (likely partially in years one and two of SP) 9. Evaluate year one and two (in year three) • There will be an active process of feedback from all levels of the organization. • 3-7 (except setting up structures under point 7) would be launched via a comprehensive training writeshop, to be held at the IO in either late 2009 or early 2010. Participants are from International Committees and include: Chair of leader training; lead trainer of International Pool of Trainers; ODC member responsible for training and for RTF; IO Staff; Member of each programme committee and IJB who is responsible for training; member of each organizational committee who is responsible for training. Main Role of NAs Education, Training and Evaluation Goal C: Leadership Training • Inform the Education Department of their training strategies before the Writeshop • Provide NA curriculum materials and training strategies to the Education Department • Ensure that NA Training Coordinator has attended an RTF and TTT • Liaise with chapter training coordinators and deliver training nationally • Send people as appropriate to receive training at RTFs • Review national training in light of developments and implement new elements • Ensure that only approved training materials are used in NA and chapter training • Input info into global training calendar • Participate in evaluation of training

Strategies ChaptersGoal A: Organization • Analyze, discuss and define the role and status of all parts of and levels in, CISV (including international including IO, regions, national and promotional associations, local chapters and junior branch). • Analyze, discuss and define the role and status of all international meetings in CISV (including AIM, IJBC, regional meetings, regional JB meetings and Regional Training Forums). • Based on the roles and definitions (1 and 2 above) evaluate each of the parts/levels/meetings. • Based on 3 above recommend to the Board any developments needed in the organisational and meeting structure of CISV International and its regional structures. • Implement changes to meeting structures as approved. • This review would be done preferably by an external consultant.

  32. Strategies for National and Local ChaptersGoal B: Health • Based on the roles and definitions, finalize chapter development guide and role profiles. Set out indicators of a healthy chapter. • Based on 1 above, develop a self-evaluation tool for NAs and Chapters to use for the purposes of self-improvement. This tool must include a system to follow-up analysis of self-evaluation. • Develop and deliver training to assist NAs and Chapters in applying the guide and using the self-evaluation tool. • Implement self-evaluation and report on results • Act on self-evaluation results.

(This session should raise awareness with Chapters and aim to implement the tool across chapters in late 2011, to be fully in place by AIM 2012) - Chapters: Be aware of this work and plan to put it on agenda for Chapter Board meetings following the first NA Board Meeting to address it in 2011 (for implementation in 2011 and 2012)

Strategies ChaptersGoal C: Engagement • Develop effective recruitment methods and on-line tools for International committees • Develop and deliver training or guidance for Committees to use and maintain the recruitment methods/tools (1 above) • Implement International recruitment methods/tools • Define the major recruitment needs of NAs/Chapters • Based on 4 above, develop appropriate and effective recruitment methods and on-line tools for NA/Chapter use (including role profile for chapter from column 2 + positions of programme responsibility). • Develop and deliver training or guidance for NAs/Chapter to use and maintain the recruitment methods/tools (2 above)
