SELF - CONCEPT Your perception of who you are. Your perception is based on attitudes and feelings that you have. Your self-image or identity. All of your life experiences have contributed to this. Inner You – the way you see yourself. Outer You – the way you present yourself.
From the inside out THE INNER YOU THE OUTER YOU • The inner you is the sum of all your thoughts and feelings about yourself and how you react to daily life. • The way you view and interpret a situation is often determined by your temperament. These individual differences exist as part of your personality as you mature. • Your temperament affects your point of view and determines how you perceive yourself and your experiences. • Your environment also influences your inner self: school, parents, etc. • The outer you is an expression of your self-concept. • Your appearance is determined by heredity and behaviour. • People notice your physical characteristics, your dress, your grooming, and your posture. • Your appearance and your behaviour create the first impression others form of you. • Behaviour also reflects the activities you choose, how you participate, how you speak to others.
