  1. TAS Angelfish Show at 2010 ACA Expo Very preliminary information For September 20, 2009 TAS General Members Meeting

  2. 2010 ACA Expo • Is being run by the Milwaukee Aquarium Society • When? August 2010 • Where? Milwaukee, Wisconsin (more specific details coming soon)

  3. What are we doing? • We have been invited to hold a TAS sanctioned, judged and awarded angelfish show at the 2010 ACA Expo. • We have accepted this invitation

  4. Why did we get invited? • Charles Hawks is experienced with fish shows and laid the groundwork for this invitation by speaking at and participating in various regional fish shows. He has educated people about TAS. • This invitation came as a direct result of his activities and relationship-building. • As President of TAS, I have asked Charles to be the point-of-contact person for working directly with ACA to make sure we have all the information we need and that we know what we need to do and when to do it.

  5. Will there be a formal written agreement? • Yes – a written agreement will spell out duties and responsibilities of TAS and the Milwaukee Aquarium Society. • TAS will provide judges, judging criteria, angelfish classes, awards, etc., for our own show. We will also judge the ACA expo angelfish classes. • MAS will provide facilities, publicity, on-line sign-ups, help with getting a sponsor, general support, a 10-gallon tank with sponge filter for each entry.

  6. What fish classes will be offered? • Entire Expo will have about 50 classes. • ACA will have two angelfish classes: wilds and non-wilds. • TAS will have however many classes we decide to have, but are advised to aim for 4 – 6 classes for the first time around. • People may enter the same fish in both the TAS and the ACA shows.

  7. Sponsorship • We will need to find a sponsor • Sponsorship is $500, which covers cost of awards plus some of the cost of facilities • Sponsor gets publicity, banner, etc.

  8. TAS Booth • We may have a booth in the foyer. • Booth can provide whatever information or handouts we want to provide. • Both can also sell items if we so choose.

  9. Can we sell fish at the Expo? • Absolutely yes! This is an important part of the expo. • There will be two sales rooms, with 10 gallon tanks. Fee per tank. One room for small venders. Another room for larger vendors (12 or more tanks). • Several TAS members could share a block of tanks in the large vendors room. Angelfish will be sold directly out of these tanks.

  10. What does TAS need to do to make this happen? We need to do a lot! That includes: • Decide on angelfish classes • Get written agreement in place with MAS • Develop details on administering our own show. • Translate our conformation standards into a judging score sheet • Plan and design our booth • Identify members to do the judging, man the booth, etc.

  11. How Can TAS Members Participate? Whether you are new to angelfish or very experienced, there are many ways you can volunteer • Enter your fish • Volunteer to be a judge • Volunteer to help man our booth • Help plan and design the booth • Assist with planning of different elements

  12. More Information Soon That’s the basis information we have at present. More information will be provided as we develop it. We will be setting up planning teams, and will be looking for volunteers for all aspects of planning and implementing this show. (The End)
