  2. Moving on – Your children have grown and developed as they have progressed through KS1 and are now ready to move onto their next stage of development with us.

  3. The aims of our school • Develop their independence and self-confidence • Develop the ability to co-operate with others harmoniously • Develop a concern for the community, the environment and the wider world • To have high standards of achievement, develop hard work and resilience and realise their potential Jesus said, “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love another.” John 13:34

  4. School makeup Year 3: 80 children (3 classes) Year 4: 76 children (3 classes) Year 5: 96 children (4 classes) Year 6: 51 children (2 classes)

  5. Year 3 Year 3 is made up of 3 classes and lots of different staff, working in different capacities: Teachers: Miss Garforth (Leader), Mrs Singleton, Mrs Wallace and Mrs Savage. Teaching Assistants: Mrs Gilbert, Mrs Childs and Miss Darley.

  6. Year 3 Class 1 - Miss Garforth Class 2 - Mrs Singleton and Mrs Wallace Class 3 - Mrs Savage

  7. Dealing with issues – who should you go to? • Class Teacher initially – most things can be dealt with by the class teacher • Year Group Leader – they will be in a position to deal with things from a year group point of view or if you feel issues are not resolved • Deputy Head or Head – if you feel issues are not dealt with appropriately by the Year Group Leader. If issues come straight to this level, they will usually be put back to the Year Group Leader. • Any serious incidents will go to the Deputy Head or the Head • Safeguarding concerns can go to any member of staff and they will be passed on to the Designated Safeguarding Leads (Mrs Kelly, Mrs Arnott, Mr Sage)

  12. School Meals One of the biggest differences now that your child is in KS2 is that they are no longer eligible for Universal Infant Free School Meals. Our meals are cooked on the school site and they cost £2.30. Packed lunches are also fine if you would prefer.

  13. Free School Meals Benefits include: • A free school meal each day • Trips are paid for by the school • Subsidised residential trip in Y6 • Subsidised music tuition None of this is made obvious to anyone else. Even if your child doesn’t want school meals and you think you are eligible, please apply as the school gets additional funding. (£1,320 per child, per year)

  14. Paying for things • Trips, music tuition, lunches etc are paid for using SIMS Pay https://www.sims-pay.co.uk/Home • You will receive an email before September to sign up for SIMS Pay. • We are a cashless school – please see the office if you need help signing up to SIMS pay.

  15. Transport Children living in outlying villages have buses for transport: • Shiptonthorpe • Goodmanham • Londesborough • Sancton • Hotham • South Cliffe Children who come to school by car are encouraged to walk from Tesco to alleviate the traffic congestion around the school gates. Children are able to use their scooters or bicycles but must dismount on the way in to school.
