  2. Print Qualifications UK The central feature of Print NVQs is the National Occupational Standards (NOS) on which they are based.

  3. Print Qualifications UK NOS are statements of performance standards which describe what competent people in a particular occupation are expected to be able to do. They cover all the main aspects of an occupation, including current best practice, the ability to adapt to future requirements and the knowledge and understanding which underpins competent performance.

  4. Print Qualifications UK The standards are developed by Proskills for the printing industry.

  5. NVQ’s • Print NVQs are work-related, competence based qualifications.Print NVQs reflect the skills and knowledge needed to do a job effectively.Print NVQs represent national standards recognised by employers throughout the country. • They are made up of units which describe the skills and knowledge needed to do a job effectively.

  6. NVQ’s • Print NVQs are achieved through assessment and training. Assessment will normally be through on-the-job observation and questioning. • Candidates have to have evidence to prove they have the competence to meet the Print NVQ standards. • Assessors 'sign-off' units when achieved - they test candidates' underpinning knowledge, understanding and work-based performance to make sure they can demonstrate competence in the workplace.

  7. Levels of NVQ’s There are two levels of NVQ’s available for the Printing Industry Level 2 Level 3

  8. Level 2 NVQ Competence which involves the application of knowledge in a significant range of varied work activities, performed in a variety of contexts. Some of these activities are complex or non-routine and there is some individual responsibility or autonomy. Collaboration with others, perhaps through membership of a work group or team, may often be a requirement.

  9. Level 3 NVQ Competences which involves the application of knowledge in a broad range of varied work activities performed in a wide variety of contexts, most of which are complex and non-routine. There is considerable responsibility and autonomy and control or guidance of others is often required.

  10. Technical Certificates There are two levels of Technical Certificates available for the Printing Industry Level 2 Level 3 These offer the underpinning knowledge theory for the NVQ Qualifications

  11. Technical Certificates These are available in a number of sectors for the industry

  12. Technical Certificates Digital Machine Printing Print Finishing Carton Manufacture Print Administration

  13. Digital Technical Certificates This route can be either : Digital Artwork for Printing Pre press Digital printing

  14. Machine Printing Technical Certificates The routes can be either : Machine Printing Litho (Sheet) Machine Printing Litho (Web) Machine Printing Gravure Machine Printing Flexography Machine Printing Screen

  15. Mechanised Print Finishing & Binding Technical Certificates The route can be : Mechanised Print Finishing and Binding

  16. Carton Manufacture Technical Certificates The route can be : Carton Manufacturing Processes

  17. Print Administration Technical Certificates The route can be : Print Administration

  18. Apprentice Qualifications The Apprentice will complete : the City & Guilds Technical Certificate the National Vocational Qualification Any additional Key Skills

  19. There are two levels of Apprenticeships the Apprenticeship and the Advanced Apprenticeship.

  20. Advanced Apprenticeships An appropriate National Vocational Qualification related to the Printing Industry at Level 3 & a Technical Certificate at Level for an Advanced Apprenticeship (equivalent to A Level standard)

  21. Apprentice Qualifications On completion of the qualifications they obtain the Full Framework
