  2. Background Information There has been progressive and widespread implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Several studies have examined patient perspectives of the EMR. However, few have considered the perspectives of older adults, a patient population that has traditionally had delayed implementation of technological innovations. Methods • A 28-item survey was delivered in our outpatient practice at the Ralston House of the University of Pennsylvania • Assessed: • Demographics • Attitudes towards the EMR • Via a variety of statements to which a patient could respond to on the Likert scale (1 = strongly disagree, 4 = neutral, 7 = strongly agree) • Use of MyPennHealth (home EMR portal) and barriers to use

  5. Results and Implications On average, respondents agreed with positive statements and disagreed with negative statements regarding the EMR Only 29% use MyPennHealth Only 54% have a computer with internet access
