  2. Tver Tver is situated on the main road between two capitals of Russia – Moscow and St-Petersburg. It is an administrative center of one of the largest regions – Tver region – of the Central Federal Area. It is comparatively small city with approximately 400’000 of inhabitants living on the area of 147 km2.

  3. Education in Tver • Tver has five institutions of higher education: • – Tver State University • – Tver State Technical University • – Tver State Medical Academy • – Tver State Military Academy • – Tver State Agricultural Academy Administrative building of Tver State University

Tver State University In 2006 it celebrated its 35 years of being a university and in 2007 it celebrated 80 years of being an institution of higher education. • Faculty of Biology • Faculty of History • Faculty of Mathematics • Pedagogical Faculty • Faculty of Geography and Geoecology • Faculty of Foreign Languages and International Collaboration • Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics • Faculty of Psychology and Social Work • Faculty of Management and Social Work • Faculty of Physical Training • Faculty of Physics • Faculty of Philology • Faculty of Chemistry • Faculty of Economics • Faculty of Law Nowadays it has 15 faculties; approximate quantity of students is 10500 persons with 7200 having internal form of education. The overall staff quantity is ~1700 persons from which 700 are teaching staff.

  5. Locations University’s campus consists of buildings scattered all over the city. Solution for the problem of effective university management in these conditions lies in using information and communication technologies for university management.

  6. Network infrastructure - All buildings of the university are interconnected in one corporate network and the late one has connection to the Internet at the rate of 40 Mb per second. - Every person in the university has access to Internet from any location. - Network offers a set of standard services like corporate mail and corporate web-site.

  7. ICT for management 1) Program system for accounting department – “1C.Бухгалтерия” – (introduced and implemented in our university during the TEMPUS project PROFI (Optimization of Processes in the Field of Financial Management) in 1998-2001) 2) System for Human Resources department (self-made). 3) Systems for facultiesfor managing educational process (self-made). 4) … Unfortunately university lacks an integral ICT tool for coordination of all these processes.

  8. TEMPUS projects • Tver State University has good experience of participating in TEMPUS programs. Since 1993 University has been involved in 9 TEMPUS projects, not including this one, among which the latest ones are: • – PROFI (1998-2001) – Optimization of Processes in the Field of Financial Management. • – CROSSUM (2002-2004) – Cross Regional Network for Progressive Experience Dissemination in the Field of University Management. • – TEAM (2004-2005) – Training in the Field of International Activities Management. • – RAUMA (2005-2006) – Russian Association for University Managers and Administrators.
