  3. How you regard the church… PERSONALPREFERENCE PASTCHURCHEXPERIENCE CHURCHTRADITION& HISTORY COMMUNITYNEEDS FAMILYNETWORKS ? FAMILYNEEDS CONFLICTIN CHURCH …depends on your personal ‘Point of View’

  4. You have a Unique Contribution To Make to Your Team! Until you ‘discover, develop and then deploy’ the area in which you can best serve your team, neither you nor your team will ever reach its full potential Cause Community Corporate

  5. WHY? CAUSE PURPOSE COMMUNITY CORPORATE WHO? WHAT- HOW? PEOPLE PROCESS/PLANS

  7. How to Maximize Your Team’s Potential It is vital to bring all three of these dimensions TOGETHER in making decisions and communicating ideas. Cause Community Corporate

  8. NEGLECT … REFLECT A CAUSE CLUB COMMUNITY CORPORATE WHO? WHAT- HOW? PEOPLE PROCESS

  9. Neglect the Cause – Reflect a Club • Lacks desire to be salt and light to the surrounding community. • The church becomes ingrown and introspective. You end up majoring on the ‘minors’ • No warm welcome for newcomers. Programs only reflect needs of members. • Do not want to grow. Members aren’t comfortable with newcomers or the prospect of change.

  10. WHY? PURPOSE CAUSE NEGLECT COMMUNITY CORPORATE … REFLECT A WHAT- HOW? CLINIC PROCESS

  11. Neglect the Community – Reflect a Clinic • With a focus on community, the church becomes COLD, STERILE&UNLOVING. • People begin to have only FUNCTIONAL value… seen for what they DO, not for who they ARE. • The needs of the church are primary, individual needs secondary… if at all.

  12. WHY? PURPOSE CAUSE NEGLECT COMMUNITY CORPORATE … REFLECT WHO? CHAOS PEOPLE

  13. Neglect the Corporate – Reflect Chaos • A church can have energy and passion, but it becomes CHAOTICif it doesn’t attend to its organizational realities. • Will lead to a lack of MONEY, FACILITIES, and strategic LEADERSHIP. • Anticipation in the church will be short lived as it soon becomes evident nothing has been put in place allowing declared plans to come true!

  14. The Benefits of Declaring your Hat! • It creates security in relationships. • It insures that all aspects are covered in making decisions. • It removes the tension of trying to figure out where the other person is coming from. • It forces you to look at an issue through another set of lenses.

  15. Which Hat are You Wearing? • In decision making, declare which hat you are wearing BEFORE you discuss the issue. • In sharing ideas and making evaluations, declare which hat you are CURRENTLYwearing in the conversation. Cause Corporation Community

  16. Interaction Break Corporate Community Cause Discuss around your table… Which “HAT” do I express most naturally? Which “HAT” is most prominent in our church? Which is Second? Which is weakest?

  17. Keeping Leadership In Balance • Ask God to raise up leaders with strengths in the other dimensions of church life and VALUE them. • Build teams with a BALANCEof leadership focus. • Remember that leaders with ‘complementary’ strengths are the most THREATENING but also the most NECESSARY!
