Case study: Strasbourg Graduate School of Biotechnology (ESBS) • The right place for a tri-national curriculum. • ESBS is an international school providing German, French and Swiss students with a French engineering diploma in biotechnology. • This trilingual curriculum allows the diploma to be recognized in the three countries. ESBS students are also required to spend two to six weeks in the School's partner universities (Basel and Freiburg). • Most of the courses are taught in Strasbourg and in French, German and English. • The School works closely with the industry: scientists from various companies are involved in the courses. • http://www.en.unistra.fr/index.php?id=21896 • http://esbs.unistra.fr/ (new site released - only in French- on April 15th 2015). Fragments of History • 1982: Launching of the curriculum as a French engineering school within the university. • 1988: First example of a tri-national program (Switzerland – France – Germany) in 3 years with a limited class size of 40 students (20 French and 20 German and Swiss). • 1989: First piece of choice of the newly created EUCOR. • 2009: The KIT jumps out off the program. • 2010: Reorganization of the studies with Basel, Freiburg and Strasbourg partners universities. • 2014: Enhanced cooperation between ESBS and ECPM and launching of a Chem-biotech program.
