  5. General Math • Open to all grade levels • 50 Multiple Choice Questions • 6th, 7th, & 8th same test • Scratch paper OK • Skips don’t count • 7/8th Gr.- Mr. Baxter • Wednesday 3:45-4:15 am, rm. 907 • 6th Gr.- Mrs. McDonald • Wednesday 3:45-4:30 pm, rm. 502

  6. Number Sense • Open to all grade levels • 10 Minutes • All mental math • Must attend coaching sessions to learn “tricks” • Hand Graded • 7/8th Gr.- Mr. Baxter • Wednesday 3:45-4:15 pm rm. 907 • 6th Gr.- Mrs. McDonald • Wednesday 3:45-4:30 pm, rm. 502

  7. Calculator – Mrs. HughesFriday 3:40-5:00, Room 502 • Open to all grade levels • 80 Questions • Use of a HP 33S scientific function calculator is taught • Hand Graded

  8. Maps, Charts, & Graphs–Mrs. WillcoxMonday 3:30-4:00 pm, room 506 • Open to all grade levels • 70 Questions • Use Atlas and ruler to assist you • Skills taught during practice • Skips don’t count • Hand Graded (District Meets) • Scantron Graded (TMSCA Meets)

  11. Spelling-Mrs. CoxTuesday 3:45-4:30, Room 908 • 2 Spelling Lists-one for 6th and one for 7/8 • Test will have 50 words and 20 “tie breaker” words • Handwriting is important • Hand Graded Test

  12. Dictionary Skills - Mrs. CoxWednesday 3:45-4:30, Room 502 • Open to all grade levels • Multiple Choice Format • 35-50 questions • Skips don’t count • Use your dictionary to aid you • Scantron Grading

Practice Sessions • Schedule posted in UIL Display Case • Be sure to sign in!! • Learn the rules for the test • Get the “insider info” on the best ways to improve your score • Take practice tests • Keep a folder of practice materials • Rides must be on time for PM practices Relaxed and have fun!

  14. Competitions • Meets are on Saturdays • You may compete in multiple subjects • Only compete against your grade level • Allowed to come & compete for individual subjects if needed • 2 Types-NEISD & TMSCA

  15. CompetitionsNEISD Meets • Compete against 6-7 other NEISD middle schools • Limited to 25 students per subject • October 16th (Harris MS) • November 13th (Bradley MS) • January 29th (Driscoll MS) • *April 2nd (Wood MS) must qualify*

  16. CompetitionsTMSCA Meets • Unlimited # of students • Compete against schools across South Texas • December 4th (Location Tejeda) • February 26th (Eisenhower MS) • March 5th (Bush MS) • March 12th (Medina Valley MS)
