  2. He forgot to feed the animals that night, and the animals were extremely hungry. Mr Jones was drunk!! He collected a bottle of beer, then fell asleep, snoring loudly.

  3. Meanwhile, there was lots of commotion in the barns and stables. Old Major, the prize white boar, had had a strange dream and wished to communicate it to the other animals. The animals were quick to arrive there. Old Major started his speech. His speech was of freedom, of rebellion, and of how animals would be free once they were rid of mankind.

  4. He draws them into a long forgotten song. Beasts of England. Beasts of England, Beasts of Ireland Beasts of every land and clime, Hearken to my joyful tidings, Of the golden future time. Soon or late the day is coming, Tyrant man shall be o’erthrown, Then the fruitful fields of England Shall be trod by beasts alone. Rings shall vanish from our noses, And the harness from our back, Bit and spur shall rust forever, The cruel whip no more shall crack. Riches more than mind can picture, Wheat and barley, oats and hay, Clover, beans, and magel-wurzels, Shall be ours upon that day. Bright will shine the fields of England, Purer shall its waters be, Sweeter yet shall blow its breezes On the day that sets us free. For that day we all must labour, Though we die before it break; Cows and horses, geese and turkeys, All must toil for freedom’s sake. Beasts of England, beasts of Ireland, Beasts of every land and clime, Hearken well and spread my tidings Of the golden future time.

  5. The dim growl extended to a deafening roar. At this point, Mr Jones was woken. Annoyed and angry, he grabbed the gun that lay in the corner of his bedroom. He fired a shot which buried itself in the barn walls.

  6. The meeting broke up immediately and the animals streamed out hurriedly. The whole farm was silent, except for occasional snores.
