ROAD MAP FOR NSDS PREPARATIONS • Road Map Processes : • Minister (DHET) issues a Proposal for Landscape (before June) • Board meeting held to determine way forward on consultations • Consultations : stakeholders & research commissioned (2 months) • Reports submitted to DHET • Representations by stakeholders and SETAs to DHET (1 month)

ROAD MAP FOR NSDS PREPARATIONS • Road Map Processes : • NSA or HRD Council advise, and the Minister proclaims final • NSDS IV (latest September 2015) • Real work on negotiation for new structures, LRA issues, etc • Appointment of new Boards (March 2016) • 1st April 2016 ( New NSDS IV begins) • There are two documents that will impact on next NSDS: • White Paper on Post School and OECD Report.

WHITE PAPER FOR POST-SCHOOL EDUCATION AND TRAINING • On 16 January 2014 , the Minister DHET launched the above white paper: • FET Colleges now become TVET Colleges; • There will be an establishment of Community Colleges; • Concerted effort on disable students ; • National Skills Authority role to change into monitoring of • the SETA’s performance; • SETAs and NSF to support public Institutions in skills • development; • Certain functions of SETAs will be collapsed together, e.g. • Skills Planning and SCM • Significant restructuring and clustering of SETAs after 2016 will • occur informed by this White Paper .
