In January 2005, a significant collection of 1,800 items was digitized or assessed for digitization, featuring recordings and theses across 254 languages from 39 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The collection includes 1,256 hours of cassette recordings, 417,356 meters of reel-to-reel tapes, and 356 hours of video content. This initiative is part of the Open Language Archives Community (OLAC) supporting the development of best practices for digital archiving and creating a network of interoperating repositories for language resources.
