Certification - What’s in it for you? • Credentials (to be recognized as a competent practitioner) • Code of ethics and standards for the provision of services delivered • Opportunity to participate (look up,?) • Verifies credibility to consumers, families, employers, stakeholders, verifies that you know what you are doing • Increased opportunities for employment

  4. Preparing for the CPRP Exam • Mastery of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Principles • Understanding of the seven practice domains and the ability to demonstrate associated knowledge and skills • A thorough understanding of Code of Ethics

  5. Principles of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Mastery of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Principles Think of the principles as the “compass” that guides you during the exam.

Mastery of the Principles Rank your current level of mastery (one being lower and five being higher) • I have not read the list of psychiatric rehabilitation principles • I have read the list but can’t replicate the list or discuss their importance • I have committed the principles to memory and can list and discuss their importance • I explore the relevance of the principles through readings and ongoing study of best practices in psychiatric rehabilitation • I use the principles to guide my ongoing relationships with people I serve. I conscientiously apply them in my day-to-day planning, decision-making, and problem solving.

  7. Practice Domains • There are seven Domains • Each Domain has associated knowledge and skills that a CPRP must demonstrate • You will need to review the Seven USPRA Certification Exam Blue Prints and let them serve as a guide throughout your study period

Seven Practice Domains • Domain I: Interpersonal Competencies……..…..….20% = 30 items • Domain II: Professional Role Competencies….…...13% = 20 items • Domain III: Community Integration…………..……….13% = 20 items • Domain IV: Assessment Planning and Outcomes …15% = 22 Items • Domain V: Interventions and goal achievements….17% = 25 items • Domain VI: Systems Competencies……………………....9% = 13 items • Domain VII: Diversity and Cultural Competencies..13% = 20 items
