  4. CITADEL PHYSICAL FITNESS PILLAR Body Composition and Physical Fitness are two separate things that make up one pillar. BODY COMPOSITION PHYSICAL FITNESS Physical Proficiency Means that the cadet has met the standard in both Body Composition & Physical Fitness

  5. BODY COMPOSITION Body Compositionbegins with a height and weight screening. If the cadet exceeds the maximum allowable weight for height, the cadet must meet Maximum allowable body fat standards. BODY COMPOSITION PHYSICAL FITNESS Physical Proficiency Means that the cadet has met the standard in EITHER Height and Weight or Body Fat standards.

  6. Height/Weight Standards Body Fat Standards (Male) Age 17-20: not over 20% Age 21-27: not over 22% Body Fat Standards (Female) Age 17-20: not over 30% Age 21-27: not over 32% FAIL = unexcused absence too!

  9. PHYSICAL FITNESS Physical FitnessSimply means a passing score on the CPFT. BODY COMPOSITION PHYSICAL FITNESS Physical Proficiency Means that the cadet has scored a minimum of 180 with 60 points in each of the three events.

  10. Failing to Meet the Standard • assigned to CPRT, which includes make-up CPFTs • body weight and body fat will be reassessed monthly • success = 3-8 lb. loss each month until standard is reached MUST ATTEND ALL MANDATORY REASSESSMENTS

  13. Corps Physical Fitness Test (CPFT) • This week . . . Diagnostic CPFT to assess your current fitness level • Who takes it . . . ALL 4th Class Cadets • Who grades it . . . Cadre

  14. PASS or FAIL • Cadet-Recruits who fail Diagnostic PT Test are not considered physically deficient • a PASS on Diagnostic PT Test does not exempt from For Record CPFT

  15. For Record CPFT • When . . . September & February • Who takes it . . . All cadets except Air Force contracts AF Contracts who fail the Air Force CPFT will be reported and subject to deficiency status. • Who grades it . . . Certified cadet graders

  16. For Record CPFT, cont. • No other test dates/times are authorized for CPFT • Corps Squad exemption for NCAA VARSITY athletes ONLY • Trainers/Managers/Film crew are not considered NCAA Varsity athletes. • NCAA Athletes must take the CPFT however the process may be different at times due to “In Season” status.

  17. For Record CPFT, cont. • Cannot “Abandon” the CPFT. Must attempt all events and must go to the finish line to meet with grader. • All CPFT cards that are not signed are incomplete and will be given a “Fail”. • If you cannot finish run, ,must still go to finish line and meet with grader.

  18. PASS or FAIL • PASS = scoring a minimum of 60 points in each event • FAIL = scoring below 60 points in any event or an unexcused absence from test

  19. Injury or Illness • The Citadel Physician is only authority who may issue a medical excusal from CPFT • The checkout record from Citadel Infirmary is required documentation for medical excusal from CPFT

  20. Physical Deficiency Physical Proficiency = meeting the standard in both Weight Management & Physical Fitness • 4C will be listed as physically deficient for . . . FAIL on Weight Management, or FAIL on CFPT • 4C deemed physically deficient will . . . attend remedial PT be denied the privilege of taking overnights & weekends (applies in the spring semester) Unexcused Absence = FAIL!

Unit Physical Training • 4C Physical Training When: 0545-0645 daily during 4C Orientation & Training Week + every Monday/Thursday after classes begin until For Record CPFT What: Military Style Physical Training + Team Building Session with Strength Coach • Unit Spirit Physical Training (All Cadets) When: Fridays after parade per Cadet Training Schedule What: 20-25 minutes of stationary exercise + formation run around campus

Commandant’s PhysicalRemediation Training (CPRT)“Remedial PT” • Who is it for . . . cadets who do not PASS Weight Management and CPFT Cadets who pass CPFT but score <220 • When is it . . . 0545-0645, Mondays & Thursdays per Cadet Training Schedule • Who leads it . . . Physical Readiness Officers & SFC Rich

BOV TrophyAwarded to top company in Athletics • Intramurals – points awarded based on participation and success • CPFT Excellence – cadets scoring  280 earn points ROTC cadets and varsity athletes can take the CPFT as programmed on the Corps Training Schedule to earn points! • Athletic Achievement – Corps Squad & Club Sport athletes with outstanding achievements earn points for company

  25. Physical Fitness Excellence Badge • Awarded to cadets who score a 270 on the record CPFT with a minimum of 90 points in all 3 events. • Cannot be earned during Alternate CPFT • Must make minimum scoring standards on all subsequent CPFT’s to continue wearing. • Only worn on the CPFT Uniform.
