National Framework • Ofsted 2009 CS ratings - 152 LA’s = 10 Excellent, 93 Good, 40 Adequate & 9 Poor • Serious Case Reviews - In 2008/09 = 173 SCR’s, 219 children & 113 deaths - weak management, lack of joint working, failure to focus on the needs of the child, insufficient staff expertise, not making adequate risk assessments, poor identification of ethnic or social cultural issues • Ofsted Inspection Framework - Schools safeguarding & Social care unannounced - Announced Inspection now due – CP/CLA focus across the partnership • Laming (2009) 58 recommendations & a “step change” - “The Protection of Children in England: A Progress Report” • “Working Together…”consultation to revise statutory guidance • Social Work Taskforce (Nov 2009) 15recommendations -“Building a safe, confident future”
