  1. How to Clean the Fuel Tank Extensively

  2. For cleaning the gas tank, different acids are used and most commonly used acids are muriatic acid and phosphoric acids.

  3. When you are using the acids for cleaning the tank, make sure that you will take an immense amount of acid during the cleaning procedure.

  4. Apart from acid other ingredients also used for cleaning the tank such as acetone, vinegar, hot water, detergent, etc.

  5. It is always recommended to undertake the cleaning procedures in the open air as the fumes may be hazardous.

  6. Here the below methods are used for cleaning the fuel tank of your car extensively.

  7. Vinegar

  8. The vinegar we used in our food contains acetic acid which is also used or dissolving the rust inside the tank.

  9. Pour vinegar in an empty tank to its brim and close it to keep the vinegar overnight. Next day pour out some quantity of vinegar from the tank and shake the rest of them vigorously.

  10. After that empties the contents from the tank. Then pour the baking soda into the tank and keep it aside an hour for rinsing with the water.

  11. Detergent

  12. The best method to clean the fuel tank of your car by using the laundry detergent which is combined with hot water.

  13. Leave mixture of laundry detergent in the tank for more than an hour and then pour the mixture out of the tank.

  14. Then wash the tank with hot water again. If you find that the tank is not clean as per your expectation, them repeat the process.

  15. Acetone

  16. You can also clean the fuel tank by using the 2 to 3 quarts of acetone. Put it on to the tank and close the holes using drywall screws.

  17. So, its best to pour 1 quart of acetone into the tank and shake it aggressively. After pouring it into the tank stop for a bit.

  18. Eventually, you will notice that the rust is coming out and resume the shaking process. Then empty the acetone and repeat the process.

  19. Acid Rinse

  20. The muriatic acid or phosphoric acids are also used for cleaning the tank. When you are using the muriatic acid, use thick rubber hand-gloves and glasses.

  21. Pour the hot water in the tank until it is half full and add a half gallon of acid with the hot water.

  22. Then close the gas tank with a cap but don't use the tank cap. Leave them for 2 to 2 1/2 hour to settle down in a tank. Then dispense the mixture from the tank.
