  2. 2-11 September 2002www.johannesburgsummit.org - Summit agenda “The summit gathering will not open Agenda 21 for revision, but it will seek consensus on the general assessment of current conditions, and on priorities for further action in new areas or issues. Decisions will aim to strengthen commitment of all parties to achieving the goals of Agenda 21. A focused agenda will foster discussion of findings in particular environmental sectors (forests, oceans, climate, energy, fresh water, and so on) as well as in cross-sector areas such as economic conditions, new technologies and globalization.”

Business Action for Sustainable Development New York, 18 April, 2001 Business gears up for Earth Summit with launch of new initiative The Chairman of Shell, Sir Mark Moody-Stuart launched a new environmental initiative aimed at rallying the collective forces of world business in the lead up to next year's Earth Summit. At a press conference in the United Nations, Sir Mark unveiled "Business Action for Sustainable Development" - a new initiative he said would provide a focal point for business preparations ahead of next year's Second Earth Summit in Johannesburg.

Business Action for Sustainable Development • Strategy Meeting, Paris, 9-10 October 2001 • To discuss, develop and define examples of initiatives, projects and programmes that demonstrate business actions and commitments in achieving sustainable development. • To determine effective channels for communicating and promoting successful examples to a wider audience, in the context of the Summit and beyond. • To catalyse next steps at all levels: international, regional, national and sectoral.
