The 1st workshop on the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Ground Validation (GV) site network was successfully completed in November 2003 in Abingdon, UK. Its main goal was to define a set of science requirements for developing the GPM GV site network. The resulting report provides a comprehensive overview of global GV plans and site readiness in various countries. This living document will be continually updated and made available on the NASA GPM website. Special thanks to the editorial committee and contributing authors, particularly Beth Ebert for her editing work.
