  1. Your task for this portion of the project is to create a dialogue of you and your partner talking as though you are your famous figures. You will be talking about what the two of you are focusing on for your contemporary issue Putting it all together Monologue: one person talking Dialogue: two people taking turns talking to each other Definitions:

  2. BrainWork 102010 • Write a brief introduction for your famous figure. Begin your BrainWork with these words: • “Hello, my name is…(famous figure’s name) • I am important because I…”(Why do we care about them?)

The Next Step Use the sentence starter below to create the next lines of dialogue for your famous figure: “I want to talk to you today about___(insert contemporary issue focus here)__________.” “(Contemporary issue focus) is(Describe and define your contemporary issue. Go into detail here about your focus. Use your fifteen notes to fill in the important information.).”

  4. The Next Step, Synetics FOR EXAMPLE ONLY: Clara Barton’s Civil War experience was like being in a gang because: • she saw violence and its effect at a very close personal level • She volunteered to be there on the battlefield, in the war zone • she saw families, alone, care about the dead

The Next Step, continued • You’ll need to work closely with your partner at this point. • You are now telling listeners, the rest of us what your famous figures learned during the Civil War that could help us today regarding your contemporary issue. • You are writing dialogue—this means each takes turns talking (Special Challenge: Write as you think they might sound.)

  7. Finally, the lessons This last the portion of the script is where each of your famous figures tells the listener what lessons they have from what they experienced that might help us today. And then, one of the famous figures thanks the listener for their interest and attention

The REQUIRED Script Elements All partnerships should have these elements in their finished script: -Famous figure Introductions (each figure talks) -Explanation of the contemporary (present day) issue the partners are studying (one figure talks) -Famous figure comparison (synetics) of their Civil War experience to their contemporary issue (each figure talks) -Lessons they each would like to pass on to present day listeners (each figure talks) -Thank you to the listener (one person talks) (Special Challenge: Write as you think your famous figure might sound.)
