  5. Making Your Course Selections LISTEN to your counselors today READ registration handbook ASK questions TALK with your teachers and other students (especially sophomores and juniors) THINK about your plans after high school

  6. Grade Level Promotion Sophomore Status = 5 credits Junior Status = 9 credits Senior Status = 15 credits Graduation = 22 credits minimum

Identification information Course history for each grade in high school Final grades Mid year grades Grade Point Averages Weighted (QPA) Unweighted (GPA) Class Rank Credits Earned Standardized Test Scores EOG from 8th grade EOC Scores Attendance for each grade in high school

  8. Grade Point Average (GPA) Standard Honors AP A 4 5 6 B 3 4 5 C 2 3 4 D 1 2 3 F 0 0 0 The points earned are divided by the number of units attempted to determine the quality point average.

  9. Future-Ready Core Course of Study 4 English 4 Math 4 Social Studies 4 Science 2 PE/Health/LMS 2 electives (electives must be any combination of Career Technical Education, Arts Education or Second Language) 2 additional electives ( from CTE, JROTC, Arts Education or any other subject area)

  10. EOC’s EOC’s are worth 20% of your final grade and are applicable to the following classes: English 2 Common Core Math 1 Biology If you do not successfully score a level 3 or higher on these exams, you will be required to retake them.

A Day/B Day Classes Advanced Placement (AP) Courses Arts Education Courses Art, Band, Chorus, Dance 2-4, Orchestra, Theatre Arts) Foreign Language Newspaper and Yearbook Pre-Calculus Honors The following classes will be offered in BOTH formats: CC Math 2, CC Math 3, Pre-Calculus Honors JROTC 1-4

WS/FCS Course Guiding Principles Students will be assigned to the most rigorous and challenging courses based on previous EOG and EOC test scores and grades Students and Parents should discuss course options with current teachers Students and Parents choose all courses and course levels Course Assignments will be written on your registration card Course Choice Request form will be attached to your registration card

  13. Why is there a deadline for changing course requests? May I change my course requests after the deadline (April 25th)? ONLY IF: You need other courses to meet graduation requirements You fail a prerequisite course You complete a course in summer school You have selected a course that will not be offered due to low enrollment

Future Ready Electives Students must complete 4 elective credits to satisfy WS/FCS graduation requirements. 2 electives must be any combination of Career Technical Education, Arts Education or Second Language and 2 additional electives (from CTE, JROTC, Arts Education or any other subject area)

Earning College Credit by taking AP Courses & Exams Take the AP exam and score 3-5 Check AP credit policy by college/university (www.collegeboard.com/apcreditpolicy) Students pay for all AP exams ($89 per exam) AP Exam Fee Reduction available to qualifiers If students do not take the exam, their final course grade will be reduced by one letter grade
