Aviation Test Battery (ATBs) • Introduction to the ATBs • computer based system comprising 4 psychological tests, researched & developed specifically to assess pilot capabilities • assesses co-ordination, perception, mental abilities , & personal style attributes that are associated with efficient & safe aircraft operation • identifies poor, adequate and advanced capabilities in aviation trainees • The following slides provide more information on the tests

ATBs: Trainee Pilot Subset Ability to respond to visual and auditory signals, using co-ordinated and simultaneous multi-limb responses Multi-limb Co-ordination Logical Reasoning Ability to apply logic to verbal, mathematical or other abstract data Aptitude for pilot training including motivation, persistence, communication, stress resilience & emotional stability Personality Assessment Comprehension of spatial relationships & orientation between the plane, the ground & the aerospace environment Pilot Spatial Abilities The following slides explain in more detail each test & the relevance for pilot training
