Toshiba IR Test Apparatus Project Ahmad Nazri Fadzal Zamir Izam Nurfazlina Kamaruddin Wan Othman
Problem To Be Solved • Toshiba’s goal is to achieve 100% test coverage on all products. For the new Toshiba H93 integrated TV, infrared blasting area doesn’t have test coverage
Definition Of Need • This project is to design a piece of automated test equipment that will receive IR signals output by a television set, compare them against a known good pattern and graphically display the pass/fail results for each signal tested
Toshiba H93 Digital Integrated TV • Anew model HDTV • Outputs infrared signals using a device called an IR blaster • With IR blaster, all the devices such as DVD, VCR player, and cable box connected to the TV can be controlled by using one remote control
Database Mode The output signals from the television will be sampled and analyzed, and their characteristics will be stored in a library Test Mode Allow user to compare test signal with signal from created library in Database mode and log Pass/Fail results Design Approach Create a test program using LabView 7.1 that has two modes:
Operational concept • Sample 4 different brands of DVD and VCR: • Toshiba • Panasonic • JVC • Sony • Sample 8 functions for each brand • (Power, Play, Stop, FF, REW, Pause, Skip, Search) • Each test function will be sampled 3 times (3 rep/test)
Database Mode Database Mode Sampling Storage Analyzing • Graphical display • Pulse width • Start and stop trigger • Edit signal feature • Save • Name file • Library
Test mode Test Mode Load signal Retrieve Signal Test output signal Statistic Graphical Display • Select signal from library • Start and stop trigger • Edit signal feature • Compare • Result-pass/fail • Pulse width • First error location • Normal plot • Expected & Actual signal plot on same plot
