  2. Abstract • Proposed comments to pending PARs for review and comment by the 802.19 WG • PARs covered • 802.11 Sub 1 GHz • 802.16 M2M Alex Reznik (InterDigital), Mika Kasslin (Nokia)

  3. 802.11 Sub 1 GHz PAR Scope • This amendment defines standard operation and channelization of license-exempt frequency bands below 1 GHz, except the TV White Spaces, for IEEE 802.11 networks while meeting legal requirements across regulatory domains Alex Reznik (InterDigital), Mika Kasslin (Nokia)

  4. 802.11 Sub 1 GHZ Comment • Comment • PAR references TVWS as spectrum in multiple places. TVWS is not spectrum and such references are incorrect. • Proposed resolution • Excluding TVWS is not necessary as TV bands are not “licensed-exempt.” However, if this is not acceptable, text should reference “license-exempt operation in TV Spectrum” instead of “TVWS.” Alex Reznik (InterDigital), Mika Kasslin (Nokia)

  5. 802.16 M2M PAR Scope • This amendment specifies IEEE Std 802.16 medium access control (MAC) enhancements and minimal OFDMA PHY modifications to provide functionalities for efficient Machine to Machine communication. The enhancements are lower power consumption at the subscriber station, support by the base station of significantly larger numbers of devices, and efficient support for small burst transmissions. This amendment provides continuing support for WirelessMAN-Advanced Air Interface and legacy WirelessMAN-OFDMA equipment. Alex Reznik (InterDigital), Mika Kasslin (Nokia)

  6. 802.16 M2M PAR Comment • Comment • Technical feasibility requirement is not met. The Scope calls for only 3 specific narrow techniques to be developed. It is not clear that these 3 techniques can enable M2M operation nor is any information provided to demonstrate this under technical feasibility in the 5C’s. • Proposed resolution • Broaden the scope to allow for any necessary means to enable M2M operation • Delete 2nd sentence form scope and move it to the explanatory notes • Provide detailed proof of technical feasibility under 5C’s – i.e. proof that the 3 techniques mentioned are sufficient to enable M2M Alex Reznik (InterDigital), Mika Kasslin (Nokia)
