    2. Health How many Health organisations do we deal with on a daily basis? 6 (Strategic Health Authority, NHS North of Tyne (NoT), Newcastle PCT, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals trust, Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Trust, GPs)

    3. Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital Trust General, hospital based, medical services for the region and Supra-regional (adults and children). Provide local hospital service to Newcastle (RVI, Freeman and Newcastle General Hospitals). Provide a community paediatric service to Newcastle (Community nurses, Therapies) Funded via NHS NoT and specialist commissioners for regional services Contacts Carol Shipley/Susan Nelson

    4. Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust Provides Mental Health and Learning Disability services to the region (adults and children). Provides a Community Team Learning Disability to Newcastle (CTLD) based in Benton House (Children and Adults) Provides local Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHs) to Newcastle Provides regional LDD and CAMHs services from Fleming/Nuffield, Young peoples Unit and Prudhoe Hospital Provides national Forensic services Funded via NHS NoT and specialist commissioners Contacts Jan Cole

    5. Newcastle PCT Provides community based health services to Newcastle (adults and children). Health Visitors, School Nursing, Public Health, Loan equipment etc. Funded through NHS NoT Responsible for public health in Newcastle Contact Jill Prendergast, Jane Johnson,

    6. General Practitioners Provide general medical services to people in overlapping geographic areas of Newcastle Funded through a contract with the NHS NoT Contact Dr. David Jones

NHS North of Tyne Do not provide services Commission services from the provider Trusts, GPs, Voluntary Sector Assess needs, commission and performance manage contracts Jointly commission some specialist services with other PCTs Accountable to Strategic Health Authority and DoH (and increasingly DCSF) Contact Aileen Fitzgerald Public Health contact Danny Ruta

    8. Strategic Health Authority The local branch of the Department of Health Support and performance manage Health Trusts Co-operate with LAs etc. Check the website http://www.ntwha.nhs.uk/

    9. Child Health Commissioning Group Monthly meeting between all the provider Trusts, PCT, NHS NoT, Education (Jean Langley) and Social Services (Ruth Rogan). Co-ordinate responses to Government information requests, inspections etc. Forum to debate commissioning issues (particularly joint issues) Contact Aileen Fitzgerald

The National Service Framework Published in September 2004 Aims to improve lives and health of children, young people and pregnant women by setting mandatory standards of quality for health and local authority services. Defines the way forward to modernise services over next ten years Produced after massive consultation A key component of delivering the Every Child Matters agenda Structure for each standard: Vision; Rationale & Evidence Base; Interventions; Delivery strategy

    14. Childrens Services We generally have good relationships with Health How can we develop these into joint working arrangements with Health Services? If we want health to work with us on our priorities we must contribute to theirs. What can you do to contribute to the NSF?
