  1. Recyclable Laminate For Tea Packaging With the growing demand for recyclable packaging from all quarters, one of the biggest global FMCG brand approached Cosmo Films to replace their low unit flexible pack for tea to a recyclable pack. Initially, a standard 15 micron converter grade BOPP film was offered in place of BOPET for the print layer; while a high moisture barrier i.e. (HMB) metalized BOPP film was offered to replace the metalized BOPET film in the sandwich layer to make a 3 ply laminate structure. Plain BOPP Film was developing wrinkles on the sealing area, affecting the aesthetics of the finished product & also resulting in increase in laminate wastage. To overcome this challenge, a Heat Resistant (HR) BOPP film, PCT-2 (CV) HR was designed for the print layer. The new 3 ply proposed laminate made with PCT-2 (CV) HR film produced satisfactory results. Minor machine modifications had to be made in terms of teflon coated retractable heat sealing jaws to accommodate BOPP film in place of BOPET film. The final pack, after completing all stability and shelf life tests has now been launched by the brand and is running successfully. © CosmoFilmsLtd
