Community Enrichment Projects in Burscheid and Cologne

DESCRIPTION

This initiative showcases collaborative efforts in Burscheid and Cologne to enhance community spaces and support social integration. The approved projects include the construction of a playhouse for a kindergarten, designed to provide outdoor equipment, and the Intercultural Project, where volunteers assist Turkish residents in their community integration. Additionally, the Mentoring Project focuses on guiding children with migration backgrounds towards suitable professional education. In Cologne, over 60 volunteers contributed to beautifying the gardens at the Anna Schumacher House, which now features a new boccia court for resident activities.

Blue Sky ActivitiesBurscheid 3 applications from Burscheid Location • Approved:Project Playhouse: 4 JC employees work together with the Bürgerhaus in Remscheid to build a new playhouse for a Kindergarten which formerly had no outdoor equipment - finished Sept 2009 • Approved: Intercultural Project: 3 volunteers support Turkish people helping them to integrate in their new community. Together with the City of Remscheid they offered cultural events. • Approved:Mentoring Project: 3 JC employees support an association in Wuppertal encouraging children with migration background to find an appropriate professional education.

Additional Burscheid ActivitiesCologne Volunteers’ Day • On 24 and 25 September the gardens of the “Anna Schumacher House” in Cologne-Pesch were given a landscaping makeover with the help of 60 employees from Johnson Controls as part of Cologne Volunteers’ Day. • Highlight of this 1-hectare-large garden is the newly established boccia court, which has been set up in front of the house. • Residents are now invited to engage in activities.
