Making Disciples 5 Matthew chapter 28 v 16 – 20 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (NIV)

  5. Are our small groups really helping to disciple us, equipping us for Jesus’ ministry & mission; or just cosy meetings of friends with interesting discussions? Willow Creek’s Survey of the four most significant catalysts for spiritual growth were: 1. Reading and studying the Bible personally 2. Engaging in prayer and solitude 3. Sharing life with spiritual friends and mentors 4. Serving others

  6. Is it the job of the church to provide all the teaching and learning for every disciple? What are areas of growth for a disciple? What do you need to work on & develop? There are both inner and outer aspects of our lives. Knowledge, skills/gift development, Holy Spirit empowering, ministering to/serving others, faith-sharing, intimacy with God, hearing God’s voice, greater sense of community, application of discipleship - marriage/parenting, finance, holiness/right living, serving others
