  2. Nunavut Economic Developers Association (NEDA) Who We Are… An organization of individuals and groups working in the field of economic development in Nunavut. What We Do… Enhance the economic development profession in Nunavut. How We Do That… Implement and support initiatives aimed at meeting the personal and professional needs of our members in the areas of information, education, training, operations and the exchange of knowledge and experience. Our Vision For Economic Development Officers (EDO’s) All EDO’s working in Nunavut to have access to information they need, training they desire, a network of professionals and more input on economic development funding. For Communities To have an economy that is strong and locally based, awareness of socio-economic impacts, knowledge of Community Economic Development, and an overall improved quality of life. For NEDA To be self-reliant and a leader in Economic Development in Nunavut Nunavut Economic Developers Association

A Little Background and History • Incorporated January 24, 2000 • Volunteer board of directors comprised of EDO’s and professionals from across Nunavut • Staffed office in Iqaluit since 2003 • Core funded through Government of Nunavut (Dept. of ED&T) • Successfully lobbied for an increase to core funding in 2009 • Developed & piloted the CED Workshop Series in 2006/2007/2008 • Provide regular training to members through annual Professional Development Conference • Developed Socio-Economic Assessment & Monitoring Guide in 2006 • Heavily involved in renewing Nunavut Economic Development Strategy (NEDS) • Established & maintain Community Profile Database Nunavut Economic Developers Association

  8. Major Projects Socio-Economic Assessment & Monitoring Guide A comprehensive guide to assist communities in collecting consistent and reliable data for assessment and planning purposes. Community Economic Development Workshop Series A community focused workshop to build capacity and enable municipalities in Nunavut to better understand the concept of CED and the role it plays in developing the local economy.   9. Major Projects Community Profiles Database A web-based tool designed to assist EDO’s with gathering and maintaining data on their community. Used for monitoring, investment attraction, planning, etc. Members Web-Site A secured members website with a discussion forum, tools, resources, documents and links to organizations and agencies that provide economic development support in Nunavut. Major Projects • EDAC 2012 Conference • A pan-territorial conference that focused on highlighting economic development linkages between Southern Canada and the North. • Pan-Territorial Economic Developers Association • Future partnerships between CNED, NEDA and a future EcDev Association in the Northwest Territories. • Increase professional development opportunities, networking, and information exchange. • Will be a strong voice for economic development in the North.
