  2. Survey Purpose • Student surveys are a research-based method to help collect information that is not easily obtained through limited numbers of classroom observations. • Students have direct knowledge about classroom practices, and they are in a key position to provide information about teacher effectiveness.

  3. Survey Purpose • This data should be used by: • (1) administrators to inform the ratings of four of the ten performance standards in the overall Teacher Keys Effectiveness System • (2) classroom teachers to set goals for continuous improvement.

  4. Surveyed Performance Standards • Standard 3: Instructional Strategies • Standard 4: Differentiation • Standard 7: Positive Learning Environment • Standard 8:Academically Challenging Environment

  5. Survey Protocol • Surveys must be administered under the supervision of a certified professional other than the teacher of record. • When all designated students have completed the surveys, the survey results are downloaded via the TLE electronic platform.

  6. Survey Protocol • The principal will select at least 2 class periods of different students to complete the survey for a given teacher. • Students may take more than one survey but, as much as possible given school size and scheduling restraints. • Students should not take more than two surveys per data collection period.

  7. Which students should take the survey? • All students in a self-contained classroom will be surveyed. • Vary student demographics for the two class periods. • A variety of student populations and perspectives(i.e. gifted, remedial, regular education, inclusion).

  8. Georgia Department of Education • This information was provided by the Georgia Department of Education.
