  1. Noah And His FamilyDid It! You Can Live Godly In A Wicked World

  2. Noah And His Family Were Successful • Successful in being right with God • Successful in obeying God’s instructions • Successful in being saved • Let us consider the three keys to Noah’s success

  3. Noah Was Successful By Following GodNot the Majority • All the worldly people around Noah had become corrupt (6:1-12) • Noah walked with God (Gen. 4:3,26; 5:21-24; 6:8-9) • Noah did not follow the majority into destruction, but was among the few who were saved (1 Pet. 3:20)

  4. Noah Was Successful By Following GodNot the Majority • Faithful families can be among the few that are saved (Mt. 7:13-15; Lk. 13:23-24; Phil. 2:15; 1 Jn. 1:7)

  5. Noah Was Successful Through Obedience • All the worldly people around Noah were disobedient (1 Pet. 3:20) while Noah and his family obeyed God’s word (6:13 – 7:5) • Noah understood salvation by grace through faith: grace (Gen. 6:8,18) + law (Gen. 6:14) + faithful obedience (Gen. 6:22; 7:5) + water (1 Peter 3:20-21) = salvation

  6. Noah Was Successful Through Obedience • Noah was a man of faith and a hard worker, building the ark was a “sermon” (Heb. 11:7) • Noah’s success was not due to a “big church”, “other children their age”, “youth programs”, “entertaining drama, plays, & skits”, etc. • Modern thinking says that families cannot survive without _________

  7. Noah Was Successful Through Obedience • Faithful families can focus on faithful obedience to God (his word, his worship, his work)… • God’s word in the home (Deut. 6:6-9; Prov. 22:6; Eph. 6:4) • God’s word in the local church (1 Thess. 1:8; 1 Tim. 3:15)

  8. Noah Was Successful By Setting Priorities • All the worldly people around Noah were not concerned with their spiritual souls, but their physical lives (7:6 - 24) • They had no care for what was important; no care for coming judgment (Mt. 24:37-38; Lk. 17:26-27) • Noah was not easily discouraged by the lack of response to his preaching (2 Pet. 2:5)

  9. Noah Was Successful By Setting Priorities • Noah was praised for saving his family and his righteousness (Ezek. 14:14,20; Heb. 11:7) • Faithful families can focus on saving the souls of its members (2 Tim. 1:5; 3:15) • Faithful families can get in the “ark of safety”, the Lord’s church (Mt. 16:18; Acts 2:47; Eph. 1:3,22-23; 3:21; 4:4-5; 5:23,26-27)

  10. Noah And His Family Did It! • By following God, not the majority • By faithfully and fearfully obeying God’s commands • By setting their priorities on spiritual things and being saved • Will you and your family be saved the next time the world is judged (2 Pet. 3:5-7)?
