Fast Cars • Make a paper car for each group. • Use masking tape to mark a starting & finish line. • All groups must place their ‘fast cars’ behind the starting line. • Shout a word, for example: “PRETTY!!!!” A secretary from each group must write a sentence using that word: “Susan is a very pretty girl.” • The first ones to finish writing a correct sentence get a chance to blow their car. (They get down on their knees and blow the back of the car.) • Repeat the same procedure until a group is able to get their car to cross the finish line! • Make sure that all students get the chance to be the “secretaries”. info@paoloiotti.net

Each student needs a sheet of paper and a pencil or pen. • Everyone starts by writing a new / interesting word, or a word they like (remember to check the words). • Then each person crumples the paper into a paper ball. • Students make a circle.Say "GO!!!!" and everyone starts a paper ball fight (they just take the paper balls and throw them to each other). • The teacher says "STOP!!!" Each student picks up another student's paper ball, unfolds it, reads it to the person standing next to him/her, and makes a sentence using that word (if they can’t…).Everyone crumples the paper balls again and you repeat the "GO!!!" and “STOP!!!" goes on for a few more rounds. info@paoloiotti.net

Divide students into two (or more) groups. • Ask one of the groups to come to the front. • Give each group letters (written on separate pieces of paper) that make up a word, for example: “E I I D F H N P R S ”. (the hidden word is FRIENDSHIP) • Students have to form as many words using the letters they have. (With these letters they may from : • SHIP, FRIEND, END, DIP, IN, RED... • They have 2 minutes to make as many words as they can. • At the end of the activity, the group that has more correct words is the winner. info@paoloiotti.net

Number the corners of the classroom or playing area from 1 to 4. • Select one student to be "It“; “It” closes his/her eyes while the rest of the students go to one of the four corners in the classroom. • When all the students are situated in a corner, “It” calls out a number. • All the students standing in the called corner are out and must sit down… (before they sit down they have to identify a flashcard or answer a question). • “It” closes his eyes again, calls out a number, and more students sit down. • When the game gets down to four people or fewer, each must choose a different corner. • The game continues until only one student is left. • That student becomes “It” and you can start again. info@paoloiotti.net

Divide the class into small groups. • A newspaper is placed on the floor. • Ask a “secretary” representative from each group to come to the front. • From an appropriate distance each representative throws a coin (or a small object) so that it lands and stays on the newspaper. • If they’re able to do so, they get a point for their team. • If they fail, they have to identify a flashcard or answer the teacher’s question using the target structure. • Repeat the same procedure for the following rounds. • Make sure that all students get a chance to participate. info@paoloiotti.net

  10. Divide the class into two teams. (See next slide) • You’ll be the first monkey, so stand on the monkey area. • Give a soft ball to one of the teams. • Tell them to throw the ball from one team to another. Every time a student throws a ball he/she has to say a word in English (any word, as long as it’s in English). No repetitions are allowed. • As students are throwing the ball to each other you try to catch it. • When you catch the ball, the student who threw it becomes a monkey, and he/she is asked a question (use the vocabulary or structure you want to revise). • Now there are two monkeys (you and the other student) trying to catch the ball. Then three, four, five… “monkeys” • At the end, the last student who didn’t become a monkey is the winner.   11. Ask them to stand far away from each other. • You can use making tape or chalk to mark the playing area for each team. • Be careful... Safety should be your #1 issue! info@paoloiotti.net

Divide the class into small groups. • Ask a representative from each group to come to the front. • Blindfold each one and give them a rolled-up newspaper. • Ask them to turn around three times. • On the count of three they try to ‘hit’ each other with the newspaper. • The first one to hit another student is the winner and gets a point for his team. • Teammates can guide their representatives by shouting directions: “To the left! No, to the right!” • Students who didn’t get a point have to identify a flashcard, write a sentence on the board or answer some teacher’s questions. • Repeat the same procedure for the next rounds, by asking different representatives to participate. • Don’t use a complete newspaper, just a few sheets will do, otherwise the game can get too violent. info@paoloiotti.net
