Motivation • This decay is an analogue of proton decay, as in SUSY one can think of a decay such as . • Instead of u-coupling one can check for c-coupling and take the inverse decay as • They are two different processes and we want to analyze them separately. • Clearly it’s a simultaneous violation of lepton and baryon number. We want to check the possibility. • CLEO is excellent in detecting & identifying protons and electrons.

  3. Method. • Using signal MC, set a cut of on . • Find the efficiency after the cut using mbc plot. • Run over data for data set 31to 37 @281/pb. • Fit the mbc plot obtained from data to the values obtained from signal MC. • Find the upper limit on branching ratio.

  4. Selection Criteria. Good Tracks Protons Electrons Kaons

  5. Backgrounds Continum QQbarMC  E Mbc ..\2dim.BP # of Events

  6. Results for the e+e- pairs from data • We found by setting 0.73 as our cut on opening • angle between e+e- pairs, we can actually • remove 23/56 = 40% of the bgd. • The small no of events for e+e- pairs shows • other sources of bgds. Perhaps bgds from • semi-leptonic deacys … # of Events

  14. Conclusion & Future plans • We didn’t see any signal either for • or , therefore no proton-like decay. • We will write a CBX note.
