Enhancing Global Cooperation in Scientific Data Sharing: The WMO Perspective

Dr. Jack Hayes, U.S. Permanent Representative to the WMO, emphasizes the necessity of broadening and enhancing the international exchange of hydrological, meteorological, and related data. Following WMO Resolutions 25 and 40, the focus is on promoting free and unrestricted data sharing to support scientific and technical programs. Drawing comparisons with the U.S. data sharing model and European funding challenges, this discourse underscores how effective data utilization can lead to societal benefits such as disaster management, economic growth, and environmental health.
