  2. What is Anti-Social Behaviour? • “Anti-Social Behaviour is behaviour that is capable of causing a nuisance, annoyance, alarm and/or distress to any person living in, working in or visiting the neighbourhood”

  3. Types of Anti-Social Behaviour • Graffiti • Noise • Rowdy Behaviour • Verbal Abuse • Violence • Drug and Alcohol Abuse • Harassment • Vandalism • Fly tipping

Enforcement Tools There are a choice of enforcement tools available to use… • Tenancy Agreements – Sec 21- Notice to end Tenancy (Assured Shorthold) 2 month notice period Courts have no grounds to refuse possession to landlord • Injunctions-ASBI • Outright Possession Orders / Postponed Possession Orders • Court Undertakings • Acceptable Behaviour Contracts • Anti-Social Behaviour Orders • CHECK WITH CAB OR REPUTABLE LEGAL FIRM

  5. Anti-Social Behaviour Orders More commonly known as an ASBO!! • Not widely used in this area only in exceptional circumstances, can be awarded by the Courts for a minimum of 2 years with no upper limitation of time. • Prohibitions included, Exclusion Zones

  7. Effective Partnership Working We work with a whole host of partnering agencies to tackle ASB • At risk referral scheme-juveniles involved in drinking alcohol and taking drugs • Youth Offending Prevention Team • Youth Services • Education • Probation • Mediation services

  8. POLICE RESPONSE TO ASB • Incidents created and monitored-repeat callers-updates provided to informants • Joint visits with landlords • ESCALATION PROCESS • Warning letters, stage 3 letters • ASB contracts • Referrals to other agencies if needed
