  1. The Hunt for Joanna Yeates

  2. Joanna Yeates was a Landscape Architect who lived in Bristol with her boyfriend Greg Reardon. On the 17th December 2010 Greg went off to stay with his parents for the weekend to deliver Christmas presents. Joanna went for a drink after work with some friends. She bought some cider and a pizza on the way home.

  3. When Greg came home on Sunday night he found Joanna missing, but her bag and coat were still in their flat. Where was she? And where was the box from the pizza? Her parents, brother and boyfriend appealed for information.

  4. Write a report about Joanna Yeates’ Murder. In your report include: The date it happened Where it happened Details of the crime Was the murderer found? What sentence did he receive? Answer the questions in the following slides. Include pictures where necessary.

  5. Question 1 What initial questions would the police have been asking? Who would they have been asking?

  6. On Christmas Day their worst fears were realised. A body of a young woman was found by the side of a footpath. It was Joanna. Post-mortem results showed she had been strangled, but there was no pizza in her stomach contents.

  7. Question 2 How did the police protect the scene where Joanna’s body was found? Tent over the body. Protective clothing. Outer and Inner cordons.

  8. Question 3 How did the police protect possible scenes at the flat she shared with Greg?

  9. What evidence would the officers be looking for? Why is the evidence being ‘bagged’ before removal?

  10. In early January, Vincent Tabak was arrested and charged with the murder of Joanna Yeates. He lived in the flat next door to Joanna and Greg, but was staying at his girlfriend’s flat at the time of his arrest. Why do you think there are police officers outside her flat now?
