  1. ‘More schools are investing in bring-your-own device schemes as part of their educational programs, largely in response to the end of the federal funding for laptops last year’ (Barrett, 2014) In August 2009 it was announced that the delivery of the first free laptops to secondary schools in New South Wales was received (Wikipedia, 2014). UTS graduate RanganSrikhanta was one of a group of Australians who developed a local version of the One Laptop Per Child  program in Australia (Logue., Edwards, 2013) ‘Students who don't own or can't afford a laptop, iPad or other digital devices could be disadvantaged at school, some teachers say, as the federally funded free laptop program comes to a close’ (McNeilage, 2013) Digital Divide in schools ‘The digital divide may well be closing, but what we need to focus on is building skills and capabilities, perhaps leveraged off internet access, to bridge the skills, work and education divide’ (Salt, 2013).
