  3. Purpose To Develop a Method Using Surveying Instruments To Create a 3D Topographical Map of Small Project Area

  4. Instruments • Zoller and Froehlich (Z+F) Imager 5006i 3D Laser Scanner • Leica GPS (RTK) Rover • Cyra Targets • Z&F Laser Control Software • Bentley MicroStation V8i Software • LFM Server & Modeller Software • Matlab, Surfer and ArcMap Software

  5. The Leica GPS (RTK) Rover RTK- Real Time Kinematics Land Surveying Instrument Leica GPS Uses Satellite Signals & Base Station Radio Signals To Determine (XYZ) Coordinate Points

  6. Zoller + Froehlich(Z+F) 3D Laser Scanner • Performs 3D Pixilated High Resolution Scans Of Project Area At A Fast Pace • Setup • Solve 6 Unknown To Determine Location Of Scanner • Measure Points For Scanner & Targets Setup

  8. Cyra Targets Targets represent previously measured points Targets Are Used For The Registration Process Target Pattern is Automatically recognized by software

  9. Software Z&F Laser Control Software Bentley MicroStation V8i software LFM Modeller & Server software Matlab, Surfer and Arc Map software Scan Registration CAD Modeling Scan Processing Generate Contour Lines

  11. Method First Use Leica GPS RTK to determine the (X,Y,Z) coordinate points for the Z&F 3D Laser Scanner & Target Locations. Setup Z&F 3D Laser Scanner & Target At Points & Perform Scans Around Selected Project Area. Using Computer Software Register Scans, Create 3D Model, & Contour Lines For Topographic Map

  12. Results 3D Scan Over View Entire Site All 15 Scans Registered Into One View Low Resolution 3D Pixilated Scan Photo Contour Lines Can Be Generated

  13. Conclusion Initial Scope-To Develop A Method Using Surveying Techniques & Instruments To Create A 3D Topographic Map of Small Project Area Results-Develop A Method That Created A 3D Scan Overview of the Project Area That Can Be Used As A 3D Topographic Map
