  2. Communities Project: The Beginning • Students used blogs to work on vocabulary and to answer questions posed by the teacher. • Students created projects to sell their community to students from other types of communities.

  3. Communities Project: The Beginning • Each class chose the best project to represent their class. • Used Marratech to web conference with the participating classes. • The winning projects were presented.

  6. Famous Person Poster Checklist Poster has at least 2 pictures 1 that is a primary source, if available. Poster has at least 2 paragraphs, 1 must contain biographical information, such as: where they were born, and or details about their career One paragraph must contain why the person is a notable citizen from your community, including what contribution he or she made. Picture must include a caption. Poster should include at least 2 text features. (Such as: Bold Print, Titles, Definitions of words, captions, diagram etc.)

  7. Communities Project: Taking It Further • Fieldtrip to the Sedgwick County Historical Museum to help us research Wichita’s history. • Students photographed authentic objects and were introduced to primary sources.

  8. Communities Project: Taking It Further • We visited the public library and learned about the educational resources available in our community. • Photographs were downloaded and used in brochures and final projects.
