  6. 3.Bougainvillea • Insect-pollinated • -Bees pollinate the bougainvillea bush, yet the seed producing flower is small and has no fragrance to attract the bees. The plant compensates by transforming the buds near the flowers to resemble blossoms, turning petals into a variety of colors. These colorful blossoms work to attract the bees and aid in the pollination process

  12. Group Reflection • FactDuring our trail, we discovered different species of plants and flowers in the compound of Hwa Chong. It is interesting to see pots and pots of flora and fauna around this school as the busy schedule did not allow us to see and enjoy the beautiful surrounding here. We gathered as many flowers as possible, went to KuoChuan, even the terraces and the planting area to find the different species of flowers. We also discussed about the species, where the stamen and pistil of the flowers are etc and gained a deeper understanding of different pollination through this practical.FeelingWe were excited and happy about the trail and our finding. It is very interesting to walk around the school to find different plants of different pollination method as we do not get to do this before. It is fun and we greatly enjoyed it.

  13. Group Reflection(continued) • FindingWe have find the different species of flowers and really look into the flower to see how the anther, stigma and different flower parts look like. We also apply what we have learnt in lessons to determine the method of pollination for different flowers. This nature trail enhances and allows us to remember better for this topic in plant reproduction.FutureWe can apply what we have learnt in our future project competition next year about plants and in our tests too. We can extend our learning by going onto Internet to find more about plant reproduction and read more to gain a deeper understanding of it.
