  1. Welcome to 6th grade!! Parent Night 2013

  2. Science Topics Safety and Lab procedures, Scientific Processes, Metric System and Measurement Weather, Atmosphere, Climate and Fresh Water Sources Rocks and Minerals, Plate Tectonics, Earthquakes and Volcanoes Planetary Science

  3. Grades • Grades are based on a point system. The grading scale is in the student handbook. • Daily class work, labs, homework, quizzes and tests • Late Work / Extra credit • Grades will be available on-line, progress reports every 6 weeks

  4. Assignment Notebook Students should bring to class everyday!! Great for parent – teacher communication!!

  5. Supplies • Prepared students are successful students  • Supply List is on-line and on my website • Students were given a list to tape in their lockers with what they need for each class to help remind them • I do understand sometimes there is an economic reason…please see me and I will do what I can to help, I usually have extra supplies and the office occasionally receives donations.

  7. Other Important Info • Homeroom - attendance, notes, announcements, lunch payment • Absences – check website, e-mail me • Snacks – sealed bottled water or filled at school, one serving of healthy snack during Core 3 or 4, must be nut free due to allergies.

  8. How You Can Help • Check assignment notebooks (nightly if possible) • Check websites • Communicate • Replenish supplies as needed

  9. About Me • My 13th year teaching 6th grade at Bernotas • Also teach Earth Science classes part-time at MCC • Live in Woodstock • My 17 year old son is a senior in high school • My 11 year old daughter is in 6th grade this year too! • Being a parent myself, I understand how hectic the balance between home and school can be. If there are any special concerns, contact me any time.
