  7. Benefits of close TC/SC relationships • TC experts & GOLD members are quick to uncover emerging technology for Standards • TC experts can drive new SC Study Groups to propose standards. • TC experts can comment / ballot on SC Working Group draft standards as to the relevancy to the current problem • TC experts can recommend channels for SC products supporting deployment of standards Walz

  8. Some Practical Steps • Socialization with SC & TC leaders • Codify existing “best” SC/TC collaborative best practices • E.g. Jack Cole on IASC/TFIA or Rohit Kapur on TTSC/TTTC orLJ Zhang on SCWG/TCSC • Create first SAB Study Group with volunteers from T&C TC GOLD members on emerging technology, as identified by IEEE-SA’s group on emerging technologies • Assign SAB liaison to be actively involved in T&C TC/TF study group • Start with the major Technical Councils to articulate goals, improve relations, develop P&P, and assign liaisons • E.g. Rohit Kapur on TT & Paul Croll on SE • Create an ad hoc Task Group between SAB and T&C TC to learn from above and institutionalize the P&P changes for SA & T&C/TC • Help SC Chairs deploy revised SAB P&P on TC’s and SC’s relationships and recognize high vitality and award with service awards and nomination to IEEE-SA Sponsor Award Walz
