The Endangered Bengal Tiger: Conservation Efforts and Threats

DESCRIPTION

The Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris) is a majestic and endangered species found primarily in southern and eastern Asia. Characterized by males averaging 3 meters in length and weighing between 380 to 500 pounds, they thrive in tropical and subtropical forests. Unfortunately, their population has plummeted from 50,000 in the early 1900s to an estimated 3,000 today, largely due to hunting for their organs. To combat this decline, biologists and zoologists are working tirelessly to conserve their habitats and establish breeding programs in zoos.

  4. Bengal’s diet • Deer • Buffalo • Sheep • Cow • pigs

  5. Its size • A male is about 3 meters, females 2.9 meters • Males weigh 380 to 500 pounds • Females weigh 275 to 325 pounds

  6. Habitat • The Bengal lives in tropical and subtropical places moist broadleaf forests

  7. The Bengal tiger its way to extinction, because it has been constantly hunted for their organs.

  8. Offspring • Female Bengals reproduce 2 to 4 cubs at a time

  9. Population • There is a estimate of 3,000 tigers left on earth. • Early 1900 there were 50,000
