  2. 1859 • Arthur Conan Doyle was born on the 22nd of May 1859

  3. 1868 • Arthur was sent to Jesuit boarding school in England.

  4. 1876

  5. 1880 • Arthur becomes a naval doctor on the Hope ship.

  6. 1881 • Arthur Conan Doyle was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Surgery.

  7. 1882 • Arthur launches his own Medical Practice.

  8. 1885 • Arthur marries Louise Hawkins.

  9. 1887 • Mr Conan Doyle’s first book, A Study in Scarlet was published.

  10. 1891 • Arthur gives up medicine and becomes a full time writer.

  11. 1894 • The Sherlock Holmes series is published and sold to the public.

  12. 1901 • The Hound of the Baskervilles is published in the Strand magazine.

  13. 1906 • Arthur’s wife, Louise dies aged 49.

  14. 1907 • Arthur marries Jean Leckiejust a year after his first wife died.

  15. 1918 • Kingsley, Arthur’s son dies and Innes, Arthur’s brother also dies.

  16. 1930 • Sir Arthur Conan Doyle died aged 71. • He is buried in a rose garden in Windlesham .
