  2. The Example above has 5 Global Edge related web services:1. FSWebService – This web service is used to by the field service Laptops and tablets to communicate to the customer server.2. GlobalEdge – This web service is used by Global Edge to receive updates from the customer server.3. GOFGESync – The Web service is used by the Global One Fleet server and the Davisware office to update dispatch call information.4. GWHSWebService - This web service is used by the wireless barcode scanner in the customer’s warehouse to communicate with the customers SQL database server.5. WebOrderWebService – Is used by customer that have website that does web orders from their system. This allows the website to communicate directly with the GE database. Davisware Web Services What is a Web Service? A Web service is a method of communication between two electronic devices over the Web (Internet) or locally (Intranet).

Recommended GPS Hardware: All Hardware in this system is provided by Davisware with possible exception of the Garmin GPS unit. The Garmin GPS unit must be FMI capable if the customer is supplying the units.   5. Recommended Field Service Hardware:Tablet – 7” or 10” tablet that supports the Android 3.x or 2.x , or Windows 7 operating system. The 10” would be preferred. The tablet should have access to the internet with internal wireless.Laptop – 12” or larger monitor with windows 7.0 operating system.   7. Wireless Barcoding Hardware 802.11 Wireless Intermec CK3 Honeywell Dolphin 7850 Recommended Barcoding Hardware: Intermec CKS3 model, we support one model number only. This scan gun has many configurations and should never be purchased by the customer without the complete model number from Davisware. Honeywell Dolphin 7850 model, we support one model number only. Note: Other scan guns may work with the Global Warehouse software but Davisware has not tested them. Davisware recommends that the customers us these 2 models only. The CKS3 is recommended model.

  8. Wireless Barcode Scanner Wireless (802.11) Barcode Scanner Data path Wireless access point. Wireless Global Warehouse Software Wired How Davisware uses the wireless barcode scanner:1. Davisware will setup the wireless communication to the Access point at the customer site. This is normally in a warehouse.2. Davisware will load Global Warehouse onto the gun and configure. This software will allow the scan gun to communicate with database and complete tasks such as “Item Picking”, Physical Count”, “Receive P.O.”, “Print Labels”.3. Davisware will setup the web service on the customer server to allow communication with the database. Customer Database/Web Server via a web service on local network.

Wireless Barcoding Hardware Bluetooth Wireless Symbol LS4278 with USB Dock Recommended Barcoding Hardware: This type of barcode scanner is Bluetooth wireless and is recommend for point of sale type usage or for short distance in a warehouse. This barcode scanner works the same as a wired scanner except it has the freedom of wireless up to a 50 foot radius of the Dock per the specs, 25 feet is more the reality. This scanner can be bought as a stand alone model also and can be paired with a laptop. In this configuration the dock is only used to charge the scanner. Note: Any Bluetooth barcode scanner will work as long as it supports the barcode type you are trying to scan. This barcode type is normally “Code 39”, or Code 128” . Most barcode scanners support these types plus many others and are connected to a USB port on a PC. The barcode scanner above is an example of a model that will work with Global Edge.

  10. Wired Barcoding Hardware Symbol LS2208 Recommended Barcoding Hardware: Any wired barcode scanner will work as long as it supports the barcode type you are trying to scan. This barcode type is normally “Code 39”, or Code 128” . Most barcode scanners support these types plus many others and are connected to a USB port on a PC. The barcode scanner above is an example of a model that will work with Global Edge.

  11. Barcode Printing Hardware Zebra Printer Intermec Printer Supported Barcode Printers: Davisware supports the Zebra with ZPLII language and Intermec 3400 compatible printers. The list below will work, while others may also work Davisware can’t guarantee this without testing. To be compatible with the Global Edge software the printer must print with the 2 output types we support and must support the piggy back labels we supply. Intermec 3400, Zebra TLP2844-Z, GX42-100410-000, Zebra GX43-102410-000. All printers must be a networked model, or on a networked print server, no USB printers.

Document Scanning Hardware Xerox DocuMate 152 Xerox DocuMate 3152 Xerox DocuMate 262 Supported Document Scanners: Davisware supports many Document scanners, but we have tested only the models above. Others will work, but it is best to ask your Davisware support representative before buying a new scanner. If the scanner can support Twain it will support direct scanning of documents into Global Edge. Any documents scanner will work with Global Edge if using the Auto Pull feature. The Auto Pull feature requires one more step in the scanning process.
