BOW HOLD. 1. Hold straw in left hand. Place tip of right thumb in first crease of middle finger. This is called making a “Pirate’s Eye”. Place your hand up to your eye and say “argh”. Make sure your thumb is bent at a 45 degree angle.

  1. BOW HOLD 1

  2. Hold straw in left hand.

  3. Place tip of right thumb in first crease of middle finger. This is called making a “Pirate’s Eye”.Place your hand up to your eye and say “argh”

  4. Make sure your thumb is bent at a 45 degree angle

  5. Slide straw in between thumb and middle finger till thumb is on “ridgy” part of straw.

  6. Place ring finger and pointer finger gently over the straw, keeping the thumb curved.

  7. VIOLINS and VIOLAS – Place pinky on the top of straw, curved and move it a little towards you. DO NOT SQUEEZE!Touch your thumb and say either good thumb or bad thumb.

  8. CELLOS AND BASSESPlace pinky over the straw. DO NOT SQUEEZE! Touch your thumb. Say good thumb or bad thumb.
