Comparison of Tuberculosis Testing Methods in New York City, 2008

A study by Dr. Katia Sitnitskaya from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in 2008 compared PPD vs. Quantiferon-TB testing methods. The study found a concordance of 89.3% between the two tests, with only 28% showing positive results by both methods. Discordance was observed in 5.1% TST-positive/QFT-negative and 5.6% TST-negative/QFT-positive cases. The BD BACTEC 460TB system for automated mycobacterial detection was also evaluated.
