  2. Hillary has won far more competitive House districts than Sen. Obama. Hillary is the strongest candidate to top the Democratic ticket in tough districts in November. WINNING IN THE TOUGH DISTRICTS

  3. WINNING IN THE TOUGH DISTRICTS In 2006, the Democrats retook Congress by picking up 31 new seats. 20 of those freshman Democrats are in Republican-leaning districts that voted for President Bush in 2004. These freshmen need a nominee who can compete in their tough districts.

  4. WINNING IN THE TOUGH DISTRICTS Of those 20 districts, Hillary has now won 16, most by large margins.

  5. 13 of these 20 districts have more than the national average of seniors (65+). Nationally, Hillary has won seniors by 24 points (58-34). In Indiana, she won by 44 points. (72-28). WINNING IN THE TOUGH DISTRICTS

  6. Nationally, Hillary has won rural voters by 8 points (50-42). In Indiana, she won by 40 points (70-30). These districts are heavily rural. Half of them are more than 40% rural. WINNING IN THE TOUGH DISTRICTS

  7. Hispanics make up more than 10% of the voters in 6 of the districts Nationally, Hillary has won Hispanic voters by 30 points (64-34). In Texas, she won by 34 points (66-32). WINNING IN THE TOUGH DISTRICTS

  8. WINNING IN THE TOUGH DISTRICTS Hillary has also won 10 of the 15 districts rated “toss up” for 2008 by the Cook Political Report. Sen. Obama has won only 4. Of Cook’s 80 “competitive” districts, Hillary has won 40 to Sen. Obama’s 31. Excluding caucus victories, where turn out is significantly lower than in primaries or general elections, Sen. Obama has won only 23.
